This Winemaker Cuvée is a selection of the best 5 barrels from the cooler 2017 vintage. 100% Pommard clone from older vines in the Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Eola-Emity Hills AVAs. The grapes were fermented with minimal intervention, using their own native yeasts and with partial whole-clusters. The wine was aged for eighteen months in French oak and the finished wine has bright red fruit flavors, floral aromatics, and a lighter weight. It will pair well with salmon, lean meats, and mushrooms.
"Limpid ruby-red. Highly perfumed aromas of fresh red and blue fruits, exotic spices, and candied flowers, along with a smoky mineral flourish in the background. Densely packed and alluringly sweet, showing a bright mineral core to the sappy, spice-laced raspberry, boysenberry, and floral pastille flavors. Smooth, well-judged tannins build slowly and harmonize with the juicy fruit on a persistent, floral-driven finish. 50% whole clusters" - 93pts Vinous, (August 2020).
