Willful Wine Co. was launched in 2012, after the dissolution of Daedalus Cellars, the former business partnership of Pam Walden and her then husband Aron Hess. Daedalus Cellars produced wines from 2000 through 2010 from a variety of vineyards throughout Oregon. Willful Wine Co was born with the arrival of the first Pinot Noir from the estate vineyard in 2011. Pam also makes very limited quantities of other varietals from non-estate vineyards.
PAM WALDEN, owner/winemaker
As the saying goes, “where there’s a will there’s a way,” and Pam Walden is very willful! Her intention to live life to the fullest has always been clear, alongside a strong work ethic and independent spirit that embraces the unknown. After studying English literature in her native UK and working in television production for several years, winemaking found Pam in 1996, through a circuitous tale of love and adventure that began in France, and she has never looked back.
Today, living on her seventeen-acre estate in Oregon’s Dundee Hills with her two young sons, two cats, and a dog named Buddy, Pam’s passion is the heart of all aspects of Willful Wine Company. With much gratitude to her ex-husband Aron and other mentors in the wine community whom she has had the honor to learn from along the way, Pam is proud to be one of the few female winemakers in this renowned Pinot Noir region and owner of her own company.
As a sister to the widely celebrated Jezebel brand, Willful Wine Co. is eager to introduce itself to new audiences. Its premier Pinot Noir is, notably, the first to use grapes grown entirely on Pam’s estate in the Dundee Hills. For those connoisseurs already accustomed to the quality of wine produced by Daedalus Cellars, Pam trusts you will be delighted with Willful Pinot Noir.
